Travel more

This year I've got a few travel destinations I'd like to hit:

  • Japan
  • Nashville, TN
  • Savannah, GA
  • Charleston, SC

My friends and I are currently planning our Japan trip and after that's booked, we'll start knocking out all of the rest! My first international trip was in 2023 when I went to Iceland with my brother and then later in the year, I went to Puerto Vallarta with some friends.

Japan will be the longest flight I've ever been on and an environment where I'm the least confident and comfortable.

Build community

In 2025 I joined the Tacoma Photo Club and have been participating heavily in the PNW photography community. Through this I made so many great friends and feel like I've contributed to helping people get outside and talk to their neighbors.

It's equally important to me to support first time photographers and long-time photographers to find ways to get out, shoot more, and meet really cool people.

Some specific and tangible goals:

  • Increase Tacoma Photo Club meetup attendance by advertising on Reels, TikTok, and Reddit
  • Continue to organize monthly big meetups in Tacoma but also having at least 1x impromptu photo club meetups
  • Partner with local creators and businesses to extend the reach of our events

To me, building community means creating physical and digital spaces where people feel like they belong as themselves.

Create a photo zine

This is my firmest and most tangible goal. I've loved printing out my individual photos and giving them out to friends. In 2026 I'd like to work with a few friends to build something that is a collection of my favorite photographs.

Zines are a step down from photobooks that are more intentionally self-published and DIY. I don't see myself binding my own papers, but I'd love to design and publish something on my own.

Example of a photo zine

It is easy enough to take photos and let them sit somewhere in the cloud until it's time for our accounts to be deactivated, but creating something physical that you can hold is very important to me.
